Please see this flash and if you are not sure what it's talking about, please continue reading the text keyed below.

Google and Friendster sounds so close to us. What about TIVO? It's an amazing invention that is something simliar to your SCV cable machine. Just that it's used for something else. It allows you to rewind, slow, pause a LIVE PROGRAM so that you won't miss anything and also for the moments you want to see how Jason Williams pulled of that pass. IMAGINE THAT.

It's not very popular in Singapore, but the things that it does is actually making you into a couch potatoe, you won't miss ANY SHOW. Record with a timer set two weeks ago, it works!

Well the flash don't just talk about TIVO, other appliactions and such, but it's actually showing us what might happen in future.

If you are wondering, the GRID is the up and coming thing in the I.T world. I heard about this GRID thing over in a talk in Ngee Ann by a speaker from Singapore Technonlgy over in ICT. I was amazed by how people can pass information with it and do many things with it.

The basics
Grid computing is a form of distributed computing that involves coordinating and sharing computing, application, data, storage, or network resources across dynamic and geographically dispersed organizations. Grid technologies promise to change the way organizations tackle complex computational problems. However, the vision of large scale resource sharing is not yet a reality in many areas — Grid computing is an evolving area of computing, where standards and technology are still being developed to enable this new paradigm.

The even more interesting thing is Clusters, the 'thing' that help finish LOTR, Lion King and Kung FU ! Do you know how many iteration it takes to finish the whole movie process? One iteration is 24 hours, and it takes WEEKS just to finish compling the movie. We're not talking about what happens if you want to change something later on. WOOO...

Alright, the so called Google Grid. Will it happen? Do you know what we are doing when we always sign up for something online? We're passing private information over the web to someone we don't know in return for something free. Friendster seems like a nice thing to have, so many friends, weEEe.. But do you know the more friends you have, the more likely that people who do not know you can gather your information? No big deal as well what. Imagine they require consumer information, they can come to friendster and see what the lastest intrest is. Small thing, but that's the snail thing to do now. Next time, they can tap off the information from the GRID.

Then we have hackers who can have OUR IDENTITY if no one is not careful. Imagine a TROJON VIRUS can already wipe our your POSB savings because someone has your online password! (This crime was re-enacted in one of the series of crime watch, and yes it was LOCAL.)

The thing we should all do is to be careful when we are online especially when we are doing transactions. Scan your computer for spyware before doing any, playing it safer for the future.
