NDP 07 16 weeks. That is about 4 months,and in these four months, all my saturdays were 'burned' up participating in NDP 07 as a marching contingent.
All of us who went had something in common. We didn't like burning our Saturdays, and I even missed an S.H.E concert as I needed to participate in the preview of NDP. But I must say that all was worth it. The sun, the sweat, the waiting and even the food can make us depressed and annoyed in moments of times, but it now only adds to the bittersweet comfort thinking back on the training.
After we marched in just now, although it had been rehearsed so many times in front of a full audience, i suddenly felt a certain sense of pride. It had not come to me in the previous previews and shows, but on the day itself, I felt proud to represent my contingent and feel proud to be on NDP 07. It is the first time that we are showcasing our nation's development on the world's largest floating platform. The flashes of light coming the grand stands felt like stars. And even as we marched out and walk back towards Millenia Walk, people were waving to us, and taking photos as we walked pass. Truly, it felt like star treatment and we even had escorts, just like that other stars have when they participated in these big events.
After the show, all of us suddenly felt very empty, and I even heard one of them say, "Now what am i going to do on Saturdays?" Our commitment has allowed us to make new friends, learn new skills and appreciate our nation.
As I might be the unsocial one that always keep to myself, still, I felt the bonding and I feel that emptiness once again, like every other last days on every other events. And truly, this has been special and NDP 07~ We MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!
