The Case Of The Useless Leader
12:19 PM

Today was the third match and there was saying that we might have a chance on this one. Today I before I moved out, I made even took my favorite and most comfortable white shorts and my nice LONG AND1 sock.

The time was closing in and during the warm up, one of the guys was totally not following the warm-up. He just took the ball, lay up and shoot, thus messing up the whole sequence. That made me very frustrated. I slowed down the pace, explained to them the sequence again and he just didn't want to follow.

I probably should have brought the frustration into the starting game. They were playing 3-2 and they were weak down low. I passed the ball low and I kept getting turnovers from my players. It was then I decided to drive in on my own. This led to a few forced shots and thus turning the ball over more! It was then the gap grew to 10 and I told myself if this gap got any bigger, we wouldn't make it further. The gap grew bigger with the number of turnovers on ourside. So did my frustration. I sat down near the half court line when my teammate gave another foul basket to the opponent. I was hoping they give me a technical or what. My team knew I HAD GIVEN UP ON THEM.

It was then my center, (who was only 175) came over to me and pat on my back, "You cannot give up now, you are the game player". I manged to calmly sink a trey, still I couldn't take the blow of the gap bridging bigger and bigger, I got substituted out and sat down for two quarters only to come out on the last one.

I went scoreless on the last quarter and we went down by probably 30 points again. Talk about good leadership. A team captain can give up on the team, but not a team leader. Thus, that makes the only a team captain.

Game 2
1:10 AM

Today was game 2 and we faced a rather better opponent this time. The atmosphere was quite down and I had to motivate them abit during the warm-up runs.

Although we lost again, the score was prob 50+ to 30+, as a team captain, I was very satisfied with their performance. Shots taken were okay, although missed. It's always okay to take good shots, and moreover important to make these shots count. We also manged to deal with the fast breaks, which was the vital key to the loss yesterday. In all, the fighting spirit was there. We lost statistically on rebounds and field goal percentages.

I had myself very well prepared for this coming game. I made sure i fully warmed up before the game, as so I can take the first step against the opponent. I made a few rounds around the court myself and did a little extra warm up. Drove in straight on the first basket already in the opening and I was very satisfied with our first quarter performance.

We were on par on scores on the first quarter but we pulled away gradually as they found their form on the three point range. Increased my career high by another point, pouring 11 points. Really have to work on my three point accuracy, and many a times when I go for the shot, the wet ball slipped out of my palms. Still, there's no excuse as everyone else is also using the ball and if they are making, why ain't I?

I just have to win one of these games. I MUST.

6:20 PM

Today was a the first competitive game with my new team.

Before the game, they were listening and asking advices from me and I appreciate them for coming to learn from me. And as some of them listened, some executed as planned and for some others, either could not or did not.

Our defense was sloppy. Only the first two came back and helped on first breaks. Wehn playing half court, the high post was easily accessible. We really lost out on this part.

Our offense was still being brought out. But still there was not much room.

We fell 25-71.

I accounted for 3 free throws, 1 three point, and 2 shots. That puts me up on a career high on a match accounted by BAS. Nevertheless, I would of course sacrifice these points for the win, but in order to win, I needed to start the rain coming.

Tomorrow's another game. I hope i can last for another 40mins. =p

1:35 AM

Once again, I've been given a chance to be the leader.

Tomorrow's the big day?

Will I lead my people to lead or be lead?

STAY TUNED
